1965: Reverend Thomas Plummer was the second pastor
of the mission. He served from 1965 to 1967. During
this time the group moved to the Odd Fellows Hall in
Elk Grove.
1966: The Elk Grove Southern Baptist Chapel was established
when Fourteenth Avenue Baptist Church of Sacramento
began supporting the mission by providing teachers,
leaders, musicians, and finances.
1967: Bro. Lawrence Haupt served as pastor from December
1967 until May 1976. During this time the mission met
in the Native Sons Hall and then the Grange Hall, remaining
there until January 1973.

1968: A new building fund was established.
1973: Money from the new building fund plus a loan
from the Home Mission Board made possible the purchase
of St. Joseph's Catholic Church building at 8990 Grove
Street. The first services were held at the Grove Street
church on January 7, 1973.

1975: The mission was organized into a church. A dedication
service was held and the name officially became Grove
Street Baptist Church.

1976: Pastor Haupt resigned in May, 1976.
1977: Pastor Richard Dines was called to Grove Street Baptist Church
as pastor in April, 1977.
1980:
Pastor Tom Metcalf became the new pastor of Grove Street
Baptist Church in January, 1980.
1981: Benny Townsend became the pastor in April, 1981.
1988: Dan Pearce was called to be pastor in March, 1988.
1994: Dan Pearce resigned as pastor in June 1994. Herman Wooten became
interim pastor.
1995: Gary Bulley was named pastor of the new Country
Oaks Baptist Church.

1998:
Gary Bulley resigned to accept a new National role in
Atlanta. Billy Hines became the new Pastor of Country
Oaks.
2005:
Billy Hines resigned and Clifford Hoff became Interim
Pastor. In the fall of '05, the Pastor Search Committee
was selected and they began a prayerful search for a new
Senior Pastor.
2006: In July, Steve
Belden became Senior Pastor of Country Oaks after being
recommended by the Pastor Search Committee and approved
by near unanimous Church vote.
June
1, 2008: Pastor Belden was called away from COBC.
